Safety

Meeting new people should be exciting — and safe. A few things worth keeping in mind.

Before you meet

• Meet in public the first few times, and stay in public places you know.
• Tell a friend where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back.
• Arrange your own transportation so you can leave whenever you want.
• Take your time. There's no rush to move off Matcha, share personal details, or meet in person.

Protect your information

• Don't share your home or work address, financial details, or account passwords.
• Be cautious about sharing other identifying information until you've built trust.
• Keep conversations on Matcha until you're comfortable — it helps if you ever need to report something.

Watch for romance scams

• Never send money, gift cards, or financial information to someone you met on Matcha — no matter the story.
• Be skeptical of anyone who quickly professes strong feelings, asks for money or "help," or refuses to meet or video chat.
• Report anyone who asks you for money. It helps protect the whole community.

Consent and respect

• A match, a conversation, or a date is not consent. Respect boundaries — online and in person.
• If something feels off, trust your instincts and step away.

Reporting and blocking

• You can report or block anyone from the ⋯ menu on their profile or in any conversation.
• Reports are reviewed and can result in content or accounts being removed.
